Well, GOY Edition would have larger market than Gold Edition, after all, how many people are Gold?
  • Ryan Smith - Monday, April 29, 2019 - link

It was at one point "GOTY." But it survived an editing pass mangled but not dead.

    "... to memorize the date."

    Suggest commemorate rather than memorize.
  • neogodless - Monday, April 29, 2019 - link

"Memorialize" would also be an accepted answer.
  • ingwe - Monday, April 29, 2019 - link

I suspect they were going for "memorialize" and spellchecking/autocorrect changed it after a spelling error.
  • PeachNCream - Monday, April 29, 2019 - link

Your autocorrect detectors are better than mine. That makes sense.

    Thanks!

the Ryzen should have had special bin, but than again, that would needed bios updates at this stage of ryzen 2000 series, not a wise thing to do.....
  • usernametaken76 - Monday, April 29, 2019 - link

The binned processors are already on Threadripper.
  • Zoolook13 - Thursday, May 2, 2019 - link

They could well be well binned, we'll find out when ppl start overclocking them, but I wish they'd waited for the 3000 series to launch.

    memorialize
  • rocky12345 - Monday, April 29, 2019 - link

It would be kind of cool to have one of these products but then again with Ryzen 3000 series coming out and everyone thinking Navi just might be the holy grail for AMD I am not sure these would be the best choice for most people. I guess those that want to have something that would be considered a bit more special it might be worth the investment though.

For the 50th anv CPU I am going to guess they will all most likely make it to an easy 4.3GHz overclock and probably some will make it to 4.4GHz that is if AMD did some CPU binning to make these be able to push a bit farther but probably not.
  • Dragonstongue - Monday, April 29, 2019 - link

so you are saying, this 2700x "gold" will be the same as a standard one just a fancy autograph on the IHS and a T-shirt.

nahh, I think AMD would be mega fk stupid if they did not volt tune, bin salvage for these parts, not mega corp does things "spur of the moment" they are generally very well orchestrated ^.^
  • peevee - Monday, April 29, 2019 - link

    They are not binned.
Probably uppriced, but then discounted for employees.

    Signed by CEO Lisa Su!
  • sorten - Monday, April 29, 2019 - link

    expensive ink
  • ads295 - Tuesday, April 30, 2019 - link

Signed by Lisa Su along with stickers of the same??? Seems like the sort of thing Japanese companies would do, lol.
  • rrinker - Tuesday, April 30, 2019 - link

Would be cool if it were signed by Sanders and the rest of the original 8. Then they could have the sticker with Lisa's signature.
  • mahoney87 - Tuesday, April 30, 2019 - link

They should have just released the stickers for $5 a pop cause this is fecking bs.
  • Alexvrb - Tuesday, April 30, 2019 - link

Yeah I hate how they made it so you can't buy the regular non anniversary edition, thus forcing you to buy it. Sometimes at gunpoint. Totally legit reason to piss and moan.

Side note: That heatspreader is pretty pimp. If I collected bits of PC history, I'd totally be interested. Alas, I collect old console games primarily.
  • Questor - Wednesday, May 1, 2019 - link

Honestly, I would have expected more for a 50th anniversary product. Like specially binned chips for both the CPU and GPU, especially the CPU. Otherwise, this a failure to launch, sort of.
